Q: What is Ford’s, Dodge’s answer to Chevy’s 2007 Chevy Silverado 900?
Don’t know nothing about truck, but have always wanted one and i am getting ready to get the right truck with the right payment. The chevy silverado’s MSRP is very appealing to me. Understood I need to add taxes, fees, title and licensing, but it still looks good. Ant truck lover’swho know their stuff, your feedback, advice is welcomed!
A: 2007 Silverado is very good. Might even be top truck, beating Toyota Tundra and Honda Ridgeline in a lot of respects. Excellent choice. As for your question, Ford has a freshening comin’ up soon, and the Dodge’s redesign can’t be too far off.
Q: Is this a good price for a 2004 Chevy Silverado with this mileage?
2004 Chevy Silverado with 120,000 miles on it.
They’re asking $6,000.
It also has a nice system, black rims, and blue lights.
Btw- this will be my first car.
Is it worth the price, even though it has so many miles on it?
How much longer will it run?
How long do Chevy’s usually last?
Thanks.
A: first of all, that is WAY too much mileage for that year of truck. If you want to find the right car, wait. I waited over a year for the right silverado pickup to come my way, right price, right mileage, and right year. I never regret getting this truck. If you wait it out, eventually the exact truck your looking for will show up. It just takes time.
Q: Would subwoofers sound good on a 2007 chevy silverado factory stereo?
I have a chevy 2007 2500HD crew cab the new style chevy’s and I really like the factory stereo. So would my 10″ Kicker CVR sound good with the factory stereo?
A: Tell You The Truth Subs Sound Good With Anything!!! But To Answer You Question It Will Sound Okay Using The Factory Radio But It Will Sound Alot Better With A Aftermarket Stereo. Also If You Have Factory Speakers & If You Plan On Turning Your Music Up You Factory Speakers Will Sound Like S**T When You Have Your Sub Up But Basically Overall It Will Sound Okay I’d Say A 6/10 – 7/10.
”Hope This Helped!”
Q: How do I use the generator feature in my 2006 Chevy Silverado Hybrid?
I bought it used with 33,000 miles on it. I read the users manual but it doesn’t even mention the fact that it’s a hybrid. I can’t find any literature on chevy’s site on the generator and how to use it. Does anyone know??
A: The “hybrid” system GM put into your particular truck is a “mild hybrid” system, which has an oversized alternator built into the transmission flywheel housing. The Alternator’s large size allows it to be used also as an engine starter motor to crank the engine.
That extra-large alternator can be turned by the running engine to generate a lot of electricity– Enough to drive the four 120VAC outlets in the back.
If you want to use the 120VAC outlets in your Silverado, you leave the car running and plug in your electrical appliance. The engine will spin up the alternator to produce the 120VAC power whenever it’s needed.
Hope this helps.
Q: What is Chevy’s truck called. not the silverado…. (PICTURE)?
Hi. What is the name of the Chevy pickup that was made from like 92-99. Looks like a silverado, but its not. its a Chevy 1500 pickup.
I am trying to look for one on Craigslist, but nothing is showing up.
Like this one here..
http://www.rjmayeauto.com/truck-1.jpg
Need to know its correct name? Chevy what..
A: It’s a C/K pickup, 2WD is a C-series and 4WD is a K-series. The Silverado was not release till the 1999 model year, before that Cheyenne, Scottsdale, and Silverado were just trim levels. The Cheyenne was the base of the three and the Silverado was the top of line trim, the Scottsdale was in the mid-trim level. So the truck in the picture is a ether a 1995 or 1996 Chevrolet K1500 4X4 C/K pickup in Silverado trim. And the “Auto Trader for your reference” one that truck is in Silverado trim it’s not a Cheyenne, on pic. 10 of 11 you can see the “Silverado” badge on the pillar behind the pass. door.
Q: Chevy’s latest 0% financing deal for 60 months. Does that happen to apply to a (barely) used 2007 Silverado?
Reading the Chevrolet website, it only says 2007, it does not specify new or used. I’m just curious if I could get that free money on a slightly used vehicle as well. It would be like getting my cake and eating it too.
A: No. Sorry. new only. the used rate is 4.9 for 48mo or 5.9 for 60mo. If you can find one that you like new is a better deal with the 0 for 60 or 1.9 for 72mo.
Q: 2010 Chevy Silverado: 3.08 vs. 3.42 gear ratio?
I’m on Chevy’s website building a Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, and I’m confused about what these gear ratios mean to a layman such as myself. I have selected the 5.3L V8 w/6-speed automatic transmission, and I can choose between the 3.08 or 3.42 gear ratios.
I drive on pavement 95% of the time, and I only take the boat out twice a month tops (about a five mile trip from the house). I am looking for acceleration more than top speed. What can I expect as far as acceleration, top speed, gas mileage, etc. from each of these two gear ratios?
A: The 3.08 gear ratio means the drive shaft will rotate 3.08 revolutions to 1 rotation of the rear tire. Thus, the 3.08 will have lower rpms at highway speeds, but not as much torque for towing. The 3.42 will tow easier, but get lower mileage as your engine will have higher rpms at the same speed.
If a boat is all your towing, and at only 5 miles, I would get the 3.08.
If acceleration is important, the 3.42.
Q: 2004 Chevy Silverado Speedometer?
My Chevy’s speedometer is reading incorrectly. It says that I am going about 75 mi faster than the speed at which I am driving. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a simple fix? It doesn’t do it consistantly; but it is happening more frequently, lately. Thanks for the help!
A: HI!
You have NO Cable to operate your Speedometer. it is all electronic ( and i do not mean digital ! ) The Speed Sensor could not be at fault for this type of Problem either!
I have seen this Many Many times in Chevy , Gmc , Buick , Pontiac Etc vehicles. They even will warranty the cluster thru the dealership!!
The Problem lies in the Speedometer Cluster. These Clusters made after 2000 have Stepper Motors to drive all the gauges. The Tachometer and Speedometer are the Most prone to failure as they are used the most!
It is best to have the Instrument Cluster Removed and Repaired or Replaced. A junkyard Replacement is ok but make sure you get a guarantee.
I pull at least one cluster a week and repair them for this same sort of problem!
I would charge $150 to repair the cluster plus shipping.
I hope this helps Good Luck!
Q: Will a dodge rearend go onto a chevy frame?
My pumpkin cover broke on my 2 wheel drive 1988 chevy silverado it locked up and caught on fire, which is not good. I have a rearend out of a 76 dodge sportsman van. I was wondering if the rearend out of the dodge van would bolt onto the chevy’s frame.
Will the differentials match up at least ?
A: i dont think that you will have an easy time. it will have to be re-welded at least to match a different set up. and that is if the width of the frame is seven close. it might be cheaper to rebuild the stock rear end.
Q: Chevy Silverado advert, concerning resale value?
I caught an ad on Sunday where Howie Long is talking about the Silverado having better resale value than “Ford or Toyota.” It was a small tv so I couldn’t see the fine print. I checked with KBB, Consumer Reports and ALG, and all of them seem to say otherwise. Anybody know Chevy’s source on this statement?
(And please — I’m not interested in xenophobic rants; I posed this question earlier and some illiterate gave me just that. I’m just interested in what survey they were using — an easy 10 pts for whoever provides it)
Thanks in advance!
A: Advertisers use a lot of tricks to say something that is misleading, knowing very few people actually read the small print.
The small print may say something like “when traded during the month of November” or “‘97-’01 year models only” and that type of thing.
Q: 2001 Chevy Silverado fuel gauge question?
My 2001 Silverado has 102,000 miles. It has original fuel pump, fuel filter and plugs. I’m sure it’s time for a tune up, but my question is about my fuel gauge. The gauge does not work properly. When I come to a stop or I’m in park with engine running my fuel gauge often goes to E. It does this no matter how much fuel is in the tank. When I start moving again the gauge goes back to normal. What could be the problem and how do I fix? I read on here there may be a service bulletin? What exactly is a service bulletin? Is it like a recall? Where can I find more info? I went to GM & Chevy’s websites and could not find anything.
A: www.autozone.com
Free site, if you sign up and list your vehicle you can access your TSB’s (technical service bullitens there. You don’t have to buy from them, but it is a good place to start. Here is the latest TSB I could find on this, and the only solution if to replace the sending unit as well as the wiring harness connector for the pump/sending unit assembly.

Q: My Chevy has an LS1, engine instead of the 327 vortec, is that the corvette engine?
It’s an 02 silverado ext. cab, 2WD. I know that the half ton chevy’s run 327 vortec V8, mine has an LS1, is that the engine that they run in some model corvettes?
A: All of the newer Chevy engines, the LSX, Gen III, whatever you want to call them are the same basic design. If your truck still has the engine that came stock, it’s either a 4.8L, 5.3L (327), or 6.0L. The LS1 was 346 cubic inches and was used in the C5 Corvette, F-body, & GTO only. GM never put the 346 c.i. LS1 in pickup trucks, but since they are all the same platform, some people refer to all of them, including the ‘99+ Vortec’s, as LS1’s.
Q: what is the best Silverado suspension setup. I have a 4X4, have had the Z71…?
I have a 07 silverado LTZ with the 4X4 suspension. I have brake drums in the back, and want to convert to disc…is this possible? What is the difference between Chevy’s suspension options?
A: Not much in the LT you have the premium suspension which is a very good ride. The 4×4 in a regular LT o wt is a bit rougher. The Z71 has a different shock I believe a blistein shock for more off road abuse. You can I am sure find someone to convert the rear breaks to disk the reason that chevy changed was the rear breaks were wearing down so fast they had a lot of complaints. I had one customer that could get about 8000 miles between rear break pads.
Q: Is it normal for chevy’s 6liter Vortex to “knock” once releasing starter?
I own a 2003 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0l V-8 .Is it normal to hear a slight “knocking” sound once it has started and you released the ignition key .Is it just the sound of the starter clutch or selenoid releasing ? Thanks
A: i think just about every gm v8 and some 6 cyl made in the last 10years has that starter knock, don’t worry its normal
Q: chevy’s fuel economy Alot more gas den with regular wheels?
is it a big diference on a chevy silverado 2500 with big weels on gas den with smaller weels
A: I don’t quite understand your question. The wheels should all be the same size. The tire size does matter tho. A smaller tire will be equal to running a lower gear ratio which uses more fuel while a bigger tire will, to a point, help mileage some because it makes it equal to a higher gear ration which reduces engine RPM’s. However at some point a tire becomes too big that it actually makes the engine work too hard and adds too much extra weight and then it hurts the mileage.
