Read up on the porsche panamera @ GoodCarBadCar.net

Q: When will the Porsche Panamera be in an Auto Show? And when will it be for sale.?
I have a 2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo and I just need to know when I can by a Porsche Panamera. Because I am a Porsche lover. I have all the Porsche Cars. So when I get this one I will be so happy. Thank You!

A: It will likely appear at certain major autoshows as early as 2009… though for most auto shows, 2010 or even 2011 will be the point where it can be readily seen (this has been the pattern with prior high end releases by Porsche).

However, of you have all the current models, your best bet would be to talk to your salesman at the dealership, as they will be quite anxious to assist you… locally, the PCA guys here that have 2 or even three current models tend to get royal treatment from their dealer and have been readily put at the top of waiting lists for new models as well as given loaners of new cars to help them make up their mind on what options they want. They will be able to give you much more information, and given the amount you’ve spent, will likely be able to arrange for something more (if you are also purchasing any of the new models coming, they will almost certianly arrange a preview at the factory if you take European Delivery).

Q: What do you guys think of the new Porsche Panamera? When will it be in the dealerships? Is Porsche part of VW?
Another car that interests me that I could consider. How do you guys think it looks? I kinda like the hatchback look. How do you guys think it will perform? And most importantly, which every answer I get is different, is Porsche part of VW?!

A: The Panamera looks like it could be a very successful car for Porsche, and on paper certainly seems well matched against it’s BMW and MB competitors. Time will tell how the car does and how it’s styling holds up. Personally I find the looks a little odd, but have yet to see one in person – I suspect I may like the looks in real life better than it’s looked in pictures.

It looks like it will offer excellent performance, especially for a car that will be as heavy as it is (though it looks like it will tip in a little less than much of it’s competition).

The first US deliveries should have already taken place, but it will most likely not be a common site at dealerships for some months still (probably September-October will be when most pre-orders are delivered).

As for the company – at present it looks like Porsche and VW will merge (or more specifically, form a new holding company which will then hold both companies as one entity).

Historically, the two have often been linked as Dr. Porsche was the designer of the original VW Bug (though he also had ties as a designer to pretty much every German auto maker), and the early Porsches were designed to use many VW parts since these were some of the few readily available parts in post-war Germany when Porsche started operation. Further, many members of the Porsche family have been and currently are on the Board of VW.

Confusing the issue in the US is that VW dealers were the original point of sales for Porsche in the US. As Porsche grew, many dealers became VW-Porsche dealers, confusing many into thinking that VW owned Porsche (they didn’t, they merely shared a sales and distribution organization in the US). In recent years, VW’s plummeting stock prices led to Porsche purchasing more than 50% of VW… something that has now led to Porsche being stretched too far under current credit issues (complicated by things like launching the Panamera), which is why the two are currently looking to merge into one company.

Q: Why is the upcoming Porsche Panamera classified as a sedan?
every time i see the Panamera it looks as if has a 5th door. The body shape suggests hatchback to me. However every time it is mentioned it is called a sedan?
i understand it has foor doors but it very clearly looks like a hatchback
the Audi A4 wagon has four doors and back seat

A: it’s a 4-door. hence, it’s a sedan.

Q: What do you think of the new porsche panamera?
im looking to get a car and i like the panamera but i want to know what others think of it.

A: I’ll withhold judgment on the Panamera until I see it in person. I currently own a 911 Turbo and I owned an air-cooled 911 coupe previously. The Panamera’s performance will be stellar.

Of course, this will be an expensive car — near the $100,000 mark for the base model. Because the supply is likely to be extremely limited at first, dealers will likely charge big premiums. How big? A brand new Porsche GT2, which lists at $194,000, generally sells in the U.S. for between $250,000 and $300,000.

The Panamera’s interior will be beautiful and extremely functional. You won’[t see “pillow-top” leather seats like those in the big BMWs. Porsche believes that form follows function: they leave out the crap.

Q: What do you think of the Porsche Panamera?
I saw it on the website, and I think I’m in love. What do you think?

Here’s a picture: http://blog.koormann.de/files/porsche-panamera-1.png

A: So, I finally got to see one in person. Beautiful. If you think this looks like a Mitsubishi, you need new glasses!

LOTS of the big BMWs and Mercedes, that cost as much or more, are going to be redesigned in the next couple of years. A Bentley Flying Spur costs nearly $200,000, and is one pigmobile.

I haven’t driven one yet, and that’s likely to be a long time coming; however, I did talk to someone who got behind the wheel (I was at the Porsche Parade in Keystone, CO): “It’s a sports car, an honest-to-goodness four-door sports car!”

Porsche doesn’t fool around with the fru-fru (pillow top seats? BMW, what are you thinking?); everything in its place and falling naturally to hand.

Remember, this is a four door sedan, not a 911 Turbo. Compare it to an S65 AMG Mercedes ($200,000), not to a Ferrari. Beautiful!

Added:
I owned a 1996 (993) air-cooled 911 coupe. I loved that car, but had to sell it to buy my new one. Most collectors and afficionados consider the 993 to be the epitome of “old Porsche” design. The 1996 couldn’t hold a performance candle to my 2005 911.

Q: What do you think of the Porsche Panamera as a police pursuit vehicle?
500HP
all wheel/four wheel Drive
twin clutch 7 speed auto

back seats for detaining non violent pot smokers and cop killers alike

what do you think? all “buy american” aside

A: A huge waste of money. There are very very few places where a high speed pursuit vehicle is necessary, and the currently-used Cameros with the Z06 engines are more than sufficient.

In the vast majority of situations, raw speed and all wheel drive are not even in the top 5 most important things in a police vehicle. Take a look at how the Impala is designed, and you’ll get an idea of what a police-optimized vehicle from the ground up looks like.

Q: Why the negativity on the Porsche Panamera?
The Porsche Panamera is a good idea for me i always wanted a 911 porshce but thought it was too small but the panamera is so convenient (well for me) more space in front and in the back
what are your thoughts..And if you are one of the people who think its a bad car to add to the porsche line up please give me a reason
looking forward for your comments

A: This is nothing new… some will cry that the Panamera is a sign that the company has lost it’s way and proof that it’s no longer producing the kind of car that made it what it is. The same cry that went up when the Cayenne was introduced… and the same cry that went up when the 928 was introduced… and really, the same cry that came from some when the 901 was first introduced (before it was relabelled the 911).

Logically thinking, a Porsche is a car made by Porsche.. thus the Panamera is as much a Porsche as a 1973 911 RS. They come from the same source, although there are many many differences between them. However, if you look around, you’ll find some that will say a Porsche is a car that is a two door sports car, the Panamera isn’t a Porsche. Or that a Porsche is a two door sports car with an engine behind the driver, thus the Panamera, 924/944/968, 928, Cayenne, etc are not real Porsches. Then the set of people that think it also has to be air cooled, and rear engined (not just behind the driver, but behind the rear axel), and thus all the current cars and… well, everything other than the 356, 911, and 912 are pretty much not real Porsches. For any of these people, the introduction of a new car that will define Porsche for many people is seen as a terrible thing.

The Panamera iteself sounds great on paper, and makes sense as a market segment that Porsche should be involved in. The pictures are not the most flattering so far, but it may look better in person as that often happens. The biggest negitive around the Panamera right now is that it’s coming out in the midst of such poor economic times, which is less than ideal for the company given the amount it’s invested in development and that it will now likely not be able to recoup that for a much longer period than had originally been planned.

Q: How is the ‘10 porsche panamera compared to the 2010 Merc s550?
I need somebody who knows what they’re talking about! which one is more comfy? which one is safer? which one is more sporty? why? everything u can possibly think of!!! thanks a lot!!!!!! DETAIL!!!!

A: It depends on what trim levels of either car. The S550 doesn’t do Mercedes justice compared to the Panamera, you have to look at the big, bad@$$ AMG models to get a decent comparison. In a recent road-and-track comparo, MOTOR Magazine Australia compared the top-spec S63 AMG, with the 6.2L naturally aspirated V8, to the similarly top-spec Porsche Panamera Turbo, with a twin-turbocharged 4.8L V8.

The Panamera is more sophisticated, and safer, but the S63 is more fun to drive, more powerful, more comfortable in its ride, and delimited it would leave the Panamera for dust, and a better sound to match. Interior quality goes to the Panamera, whereas exterior looks certainly favour the S63, especially compared to the ‘Mera’s hideous rear-end.

It’s the fun-factor where the S63 also starts to leave the Panamera for dead. The Panamera behaves, well, like a 4-door 911 as that’s essentially what it is, which means it’s the more nimble of the two, but the Big Merc combines more horsepower-per-tonne with a tail-happy sports suspension setup (and rear-wheel-drive, which may be a deal-breaker if you live in snowy conditions; the Panamera Turbo is all-wheel-drive) to produce a fun drive with, if you choose, lots of slidey-slidey rubber-burning fun. Despite weighing in at just under 4500 pounds (the S63 weighs 4400 pounds, the Panamera 4343 pounds), the 63 really shifts something spectacular.

The conclusion to the MOTOR review was that the S63 won by “the smallest of margins” for its plush ride, brilliant sound from the massive 6.2L powerhouse, and its looks.

Q: PORSCHE Panamera 4 Door Turbo Sport Sedans?
Anyone ordered their Panameras?
I ordered 5 with turbos and I will personally pick them up in Stuttgart,Germany
It’s not for me! I have”clients” that don’t want to personally handle these types of transactions!

A: No, but I sat in one the other day. What a lucky man you are, Kris!

Q: How much will the Porsche Panamera cost?
And when will it come out?

-Thanks!

A: When it goes on sale in the fall of 2009, the rear-wheel-drive Panamera will offer a choice of two V-8 engines. Four-wheel drive won’t come before 2010. The powerplants, loosely based on the V-8 in the Cayenne, switch to direct injection and grow to 4.8 liters. The normally aspirated engine will make about 400 hp, and the turbocharged version should be good for 500 hp. The base model tips the scales at nearly 4000 pounds. With bigger tires and brakes plus other modifications, the Panamera turbo will weigh a substantial 4300 pounds–no featherweight, but three quarters of a ton less than a Cayenne Turbo. The turbo is said to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds and have a top speed of 188 mph.
In 2010, an entry-level V-6 model likely will be added. Equipped with a 300-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 supplied by Volkswagen, this variant is said to be capable of 155 mph. A year later, Porsche will launch a hybrid, powered by a combination of the V-6 and a 100-hp electric motor. The 175-mph hybrid is supposed to blend the performance of a standard 911 with the fuel economy of a base Boxster.
Also on its way is a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The seven-speed paddle-shift gearbox will be an alternative to the six-speed manual. Ceramic-composite brakes and active dampers also will appear on the options list.
According to chairman Wendelin Wiedeking, the annual sales target for the Panamera is 20,000 units, but as is typical of Porsche, that number is a major understatement. According to an internal document, the goal for the first full year of production exceeds 27,000 cars, and a year later demand is expected to peak at more than 30,000. In America, prices for the Panamera should range from about $75,000 to $115,000.

Q: Porsche Panamera or Fisker Karma?
ohh man im having a tough debate whether or not to get the 2010 Porsche Panamera 4S, or the 2010 Fisker Karma. Fisker has exterior win, both have a beautiful interior, but Fisker has unbeatable fuel economy. Im aiming towards the fisker, but i just wanna see what you guys think.

A: I like both.

Both are unique, both are sophisticated, both are good cars.

The Fisker is better looking, the Porsche is more practical.
Neither one is “overrated”.

It come down to, do you want to have to plug in the Fisker every 50 miles? Or would you rather just fill up the porsche with petrol and keep going.

The Fisker Karma is almost a step backwards when you think about it.

if you have multiple cars, get the Fisker Karma. If this will be your primary car, get the Porsche Panamera.

Q: What cars does the Porsche Panamera AWD compete with?

A: the worlds ugliest dog.
http://blogs.krxq.net/files/2009/06/2007ugliestdog.jpg
i thinnk the panamera is uglyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Q: how is the ‘10 porsche panamera compared to the 2010 Merc s550?
I need somebody who knows what they’re talking about! which one is more comfy? which one is safer? which one is more sporty? why? everything u can possibly think of!!! thanks a lot!!!!!! DETAIL!!!!

A: There has been no comparison testing between other luxury cars and the Porsche Panamera yet. You will have to wait for the results. When I buy mine sometime in 2019 I will give you my personal driving impressions of a used one.

Q: porsche panamera oil change procedure?
how is it done, where is the oil filter, where is the sump drainage.

A: www.rennlist.com but I don’t think anyone is doing their own oil changes on the car as yet.

Q: Do you know anithing about Porsche Panamera?

A: it’s a concept car as of this moment and porsche’s planning on putting this car to production on 2009, it has a v8 cayenne engine including a normally-aspirated and turbocharged motors making at least 340 and 450 horses respectively. and it’s a sedan which for me is quite unusual for porsche, they say it’s the successor of the 928, it kinda looks like a stretched 911 to me, it will be unveiled at frankfurt’s international auto show in september, prices will range from $125,000 to $175,000

Read up on the cadillac cts @ GoodCarBadCar.net

Q: cadillac cts?
We have the chance to get a 2006 cts for a good price but it is a 2.8 engine and my husband wants a 3.6L. Is there really that much difference in the performance and what about gas mileage?

A: The 3.6 is a better performer and close in gas mileage rating. It will also offer better resale down the road. The CTS is a good value used and since a all new one is coming out this fall with a higher output 3.6, the 2.8 is being discontinued for 2008.

Q: How do I go about getting a cadillac cts ?
I was just approved for a 15000 dollar loan but that’s not enough for the car I want. I want a used cadillac cts and the ones I’m looking at are going for around 23-24 grand. My question is, is it possible for me to get financed into the remainder amount of the car at a resonable interest rate?

A: The answer is “no.” No bank will allow you to pay 2 loans for one car. You can never finance your down payment. And as far as finding a loan for the 23-24 grand: Believe me (especially with all the bad mortgage/interest rate news going around now) if one bank will cap you off at 15 grand all the others are going to be around the same amount. You won’t find one that will give you 11 big ones more (I’m figuring in tag, tax, title and fees). It’s all based on debt-to-income ratio, your payment history and your stability (how long you’ve worked and lived at one place). And all the banks get that info from the same sources. Believe me: they know how much you can afford. And it looks like after viewing that info they feel that you really can’t be trusted to make the $400-500/month in a timely fashion to buy that car. They feel more comfortable at $250-300 or so. Now, if your trade-in is worth $11,000 you can have that CTS for the $15k loan.

Why don’t you just buy what you can afford? I bet what your driving now is no where near worth 15 grand. So any newer car you get with the loan that you were approved for will be a definite step up. Wait until you’ve saved more money or have gotten a better job or lowered other expenses before you start purchasing your “dreams.”

I know this isn’t what you want to hear. Some day you have to face reality.

Q: How do I use the factory remote start on my 2006 Cadillac CTS?
I just bought a 2006 Cadillac CTS and I know it has a factory remote start installed on it. It has the standard GM remote. What combination of buttons do I press to start the car? Thanks in advance.

A: If it has the standard GM remote, there should be a button on the top with a curved arrow. First ensure the car has been remotely locked. If it has been remotely locked a double click on the curved arrow key will cause the car to start.

Q: How can I add horsepower to a cadillac cts?
I have a 2005 cadillac cts and I want to add more horsepower without doing major changes to the vehicle any ideas?

A: Change it for a cts V!

Q: Should I buy a used Cadillac CTS car or lease a new Acura TL?
I am looking at either buying a used Cadillac CTS with no more than 39k miles on it. The prices are in my range about 16-25k depending on what kind of deal the dealer made originally. I figure a cadi will be reliable and I can get a warranty extended. I would probably put down 4k. But I also am looking at possible leasing one of the new Acura TL, or the Infiniti g37. Does anyone have any good advice?

A: Buying vs leasing depends on the mileage you put on, the tax breaks you need, and how long you generally keep a car. Consumer Reports offers a reprint of an article about buying vs. leasing–google them and get it.

There’s a joker in the deck, too–these days car dealers are drooling to get lease customers–they can figure the payment on deflated depreciation, claim a jiggered resale value, and start with a full retail price–all bad for you. On the other hand, they’re dying to sell cars–ANY cars, and this is the time to get the best deals. By the way, the CTS IS a nice car, but how many years old is it to have 39K miles on it? How many per year? Do you get all the maintenance records, and a report from carfax.com as part of your decision-making process? I wouldn’t deal with someone who doesn’t offer those last two things. Oh yeah, and Consumers Union (Reports) also offers help in buying a used car, and they charge next to nothing.

Q: What colors does the Cadillac CTS come in?
I’ve seen it in silver, white and black, but what other colors does the Cadillac CTS come in?

Thinking about getting an ‘05, ‘06 or ‘07.

A: The CTS models from those years were available in a variety of colors, around 10 per model year. Samples of the colors by model year are attached in the links below.

Q: Thinking about buying a 2003 Cadillac CTS, anyone have anything positive or negative to say about the car?
2003 Cadillac CTS, 44,000 miles. Thanks!

A: Nice car. Good value in getting some luxury. Since it is probably out of warranty, would recommend getting a extended service plan because luxury car repairs are expensive. If buying from a Caddy dealership, see if it can be certified as a Cadillac Certified Pre-Owned, adds about $1-2k to the price but gets you 6yr/100k bumper to bumper warranty, much cheaper than a service plan.
Value may drop a little now since the 2008 redesigned model is coming out now, that happens to all cars.

Q: What is Onboard Hands-Free Communications System, in a 2005 Cadillac CTS?
I’m purchasing a 2005 Cadillac CTS and would like to know if my phone will connect to the Onboard Hands-Free Communications System. Is this possible or does this have something to do with OnStar? Thanks for your help.

A: your phone will work just fine the hands on feature is nice you tell the car to dial what number and to call who and to take voice messages from you in the car its really nice once you get the hang of it. and when you do i bet you that you’ll be on the phone more while enjoyng your drive shoot i love mine its my office on wheels

Q: Does any one have any knowledge as to why the Cadillac Cts shakes and vibrates after 35-40,000 miles?
When the Cadillac Cts gets up to 50/60 mph the streering wheel starts to shake. Why?

A: check your tires first

then the alignment

when was the last time you rotated & balanced the tires?

Q: I rearended a white Cadillac CTS! Paint from my car got on the car’s bumper, how much to repaint their bumper?
I hydroplanned into a white Cadillac CTS today and there was no dent damage or anything like that… just some red paint transefer onto the back of the white car’s bumper. How much would I estimate paying to have their bumper repainted?
actuallly. insurance covered al the damage charges!

A: It depends. You might be able to buff the paint off the other car. If the bumper must be painted then it will cost alot more. There are several different white paints. For a regular white paint you are probably looking $300 – $400

Cadillacs often have white pearl paint. This is much more complicated than regular white paint. White pearl is a tri-coat color. Instead of just being a basecoat/clearcoat paint it is a basecoat/pearlcoat/clearcoat paint. There is an extra color involved and therefore extra cost. It is also much more difficult to make the color match. For a tri-coat white you are probably looking $500 – $600.

Q: How do I reset the oil life on my 2004 Cadillac CTS?
I changed the oil in my 2004 Cadillac CTS and now I need to reset the oil life to 100%. How do I do this?

A: for a Base Audio System
Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System ™:

Press the up or down arrow on the INFO button located to the right of the Driver Information Center (DIC) display to access the DIC menu.
Once 100% ENGINE OIL LIFE menu item is highlighted, press and hold the CLR button.
The percentage will return to 100 and the oil life indicator will be reset.
Repeat the steps if the percentage does not return to 100.

Navigation System
Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System ™:

Turn the system on by pressing the PWR/VOL knob once. The PWR/VOL knob is located to the lower left of the DIC display.
Press the INFO button located to the left of the display to access the Vehicle Information menu.
Turn the TUNE/SEL knob located to the lower right of the display until Engine Oil Life is highlighted. Press the knob once to select it.
Once the 100% Engine Oil Life is displayed, press the multi-function button next to the Reset prompt in the upper right corner of the display.
The percentage will return to 100 and the oil life indicator will be reset.
Repeat the steps if the percentage does not return to 100.

hope this helps

Q: How do I know if a Cadillac CTS 2005 has StabiliTrak?
I’m about to buy a Cadillac CTS 2005 V6 3.6L. I’m not sure if it has StabiliTrak. Is there any way to check it?

thanks.
Is there any StabiliTrak button in the car?

A: StabliTrak was included as part of the Sport Package option on the 2005 CTS. You can get the VIN number from the car and call a Cadillac dealer’s service department, and their GM Dealerworld system will tell them if the car has StabiliTrak, or not.

Traction Control was standard on the 2005 CTS, but StabiliTrak was not, and the only thing that’s an outside indicator of StabiliTrak are the factory 17 inch wheels included as part of the Sport Package. If the car has 16 inch wheels, it’s likely it does not have it. If you want to verify StabiliTrak, call a dealer with the VIN. Good luck.

Q: Has anyone seen a 2008 cadillac cts direct fuel injection car in a MANUAL?
last week i went to a cadillac dealer to check out the new 2008 cts. they had 2 on hand, both with an automatic transmission. i asked if they will be getting any in with a manual transmission, and the dealer told me cadillac will not release the cts in a manual transmission because of low sales in the prior years. every car magazine that i have read mentions this vehicle in both transmissions, and many critics prefer the manual over the automatic. its a sports sedan! does anyone have any inside information on the new 304 horsepower 2008 cadillac cts in a manual transmission? something tells me this dealer was blowing out hot air.

A: the dealer was somewhat right, people dont usually buy the manual, but go back to your dealer be like HEY, let me order a cadillac with manual…. then itll take 5 weeks to deliver. i went there today and im hoping to get a white diamond automatic one for like 42,000 goodluck!

Q: What kind of rims would you recommend on a 2007 Cadillac CTS?
I just bought a 2007 Cadillac CTS and I want to put rims on it. I really cant choose what kind though. Any suggestions that would look good on this car! (Its Black on Black by the way)

A: Few rims EVER actually look better than the factory ones.

Q: What is the biggest rim that will fit on an ‘03 Cadillac CTS? With what size tire?
I just bought a 2003 Cadillac CTS and I was wondering what the biggest rim is that I could put on it without rubbing or any other problems. Also, how wide and tire size if you know. Thank You

A: Do a bit of leg work by calling tire shops that sale rims. They can tell you the best answer. And give you the piece range for both rims and tires mouthed and balance.

Q: Does anyone know when the 2011 Volvo s60 Hits the market?
I’m in the market to buy a new car and thought 2011 Volvo looks pretty good!

A: fall 2010

Q: Will the 2011 Volvo S60 feature the ecoboost v6?
Just want to know if it will have the v6 ecoboost that the taurus sho has. what do you think?

A: I doubt it.

Eagle – Ford has owned Volvo 1998 and has been trying to SELL them since 2008.

Q: 2011 Volvo S60 T6 Help? Thanks!?
Can I buy a 2011 Volvo S60 T6 yet? are they on the market? if not; when do you think they will be? I want one really bad.

Thanks!
Volvo fan!
Thanks Roy – You were much help! and yes…. Lets get the left wing out soon… its driving me crazy.

A: Don’t know when exactly this vehicle will be available for sale to the general public…. however it appeared at the Geneva Motor Show on the 2nd of March.

I would say check with your local dealer to see what they say about the General release date

Love your avatar by the way

Q: Does anyone know if the 2011 V60 Volvo wagon will compare in length to the new 2010 Volvo S60?
Are they the same length?
I meant so say HOW it will compare in length.

A: In the past the estate have been about the same length as the saloon version. In some cases like the S90 and V90 the wagon was a few inches shorter.

Q: Why is the new Volvo S60 so slow?
Hi guys, I’ve been researching the new 2011 Volvo S60 set for release later this year, because my uncle is looking for a new car, and I looked at the T6 Volvo S60, and it looked decent, had the exact same size engine as a BMW 335xi and an Audi S4, he’s also considering a lexus IS350.
Here are some specs, and you’ll see why the volvo confuses me

2011 Bmw 335xi Coupe
Horsepower=300
Torque=300ft/lbs
Curb Weight=3814
0-60MPH=5.3 Seconds
Price=$42,600
Audi S4
Horsepower=333
Torque=325ft/lbs
Curb Weight=3850
Price=$45,900
0-60MPH=4.9 seconds
Curb weight=3924 pounds

Lexus IS350
Horsepower=306
Torque=277ft/lbs
Curb weight=3500 lbs
0-60=5.5 Seconds
Price=$37595

Lastly, the Volvo S60 T6
Horsepower=300
Torque=320ft/lbs
Curb Weight=3900 lbs
0-60MPH=6.2 Seconds
Price in USD=$37700

By the end of reading the specifications, the Audi S4 is obviously the fastest, though about $7000 more than the Volvo or Lexus, they’re all still between $37500-46000, which is a reasonable price range for this sort of performance.
What I’m wondering is; Why is the Volvo S60 SO SLOW in comparison to the Bmw, because the (76lb) weight difference wouldn’t slow the car down 0.9s, because the Volvo has more torque!
Is it something to do with the transmissions that volvo uses, compared to Bmw, or is there something wrong with the numbers that Volvo is giving us?

-Liam

A: There is more to acceleration than peak power and peak torque. The gearing might be setup for better mileage instead of acceleration. Does it make a lot of torque everywhere like the BMW or only near its peak?

Q: Which Chinese car is better? Geely Emgrand GT hybrid coupe or Geely Volvo S60 sedan?
Emgrand car: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/25/beijing-2010-geely-emgrand-gt-plug-in-hybrid-coupe/

Volvo S60: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/02/volvo-s60-2011-geneva-motor-show/

Volvo is the wholly-owned Swedish subsidiary of the Chinese automaker Geely so I counted Volvo cars as Chinese cars.

A: Volvo is owned by Ford Motor Company, and has been since 1997. Until then, the cars were made in Sweden, but I believe that now, they’re made in the US.

In any case, I choose the Volvo, although I do prefer the older, boxy sort rather than the weird lumpy ones they have now.

EDIT: Alright, I have searched and Ford is in the process of selling Volvo to Geely, however, the deal is not expected to be completed until later this year. Volvos are still made in Sweden, but it is possible that Geely will open a plant in Beijing to make cars for the Chinese market.

Q: Which Chinese car is better? Geely Emgrand GT hybrid coupe or Geely Volvo S60 compact sedan?
Emgrand car: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/25/beijing-2010-geely-emgrand-gt-plug-in-hybrid-coupe/

Geely is manufacturer, Emgrand and Volvo are brands, GT and S60 are car names.

A: None of ur links work.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: Which Chinese car looks better? GT ( Geely Tiger ) or S60?
Emgrand GT: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/25/beijing-2010-geely-emgrand-gt-plug-in-hybrid-coupe/

Volvo is the Swedish wholly-owned subsidiary of the Chinese automaker Geely, so I counted Volvo cars as Chinese cars.

A: S60 – only because I’m a little older, more conservative and tall. If I was younger definitely the Geely, I just don’t think I could fold up enough to get in and out of it now(lol)

>_<

Q: First car? Please help me choose!?
I turn 17 next year, and I am very excited for a car.
I found several cars I like and are pretty cheap that I can afford with a bit of help from my parents with the insurance.

1999 Mercedes CLK320
2004 BMW X3 2.5
2004 Acura TL
2004-06 Volvo S60
02-04 Audi A4 1.8

Personally I like the X3 better, heard it has AWD, and I need that for my ski trips as well as carrying all the gear I have that goes with it. How much do you expect the car to be around 2011? Also, please pick one of these cars, and if you want to suggest cars, please suggest cars that perform well in rain, and snow. In addition, tell me what you think of each car if you can.

Thanks a bunch!
is insurance high for a small SUV like the X3?
and how much do you think the repair will be on these cars?

A: For your age group, insurance is going to be super high on this fine of cars, but if you are a good student, you should have a good discount

i find it totally cool that your paying for some of the car yourself too, most kids when i was growing up who got BMWs and such just had their parents hand it to them, and they treated them like crap.

Id reccoemend the X3 or the Audi A4. The X3 is for those ski trips, and the A4 is for a fun, compact ride. It all comes down to what you really want. If you want a small, fun sedan thats decent on gas go for the A4

if you want a nice little SUV go for the BMW

Also, the volvo would be a smart choice.

A: North America will get the 2.4L gasoline. There will be a 2.0L Turbo gasoline edition coming early 2011 too. There is a link to the Sportage micro site on Kia.ca. KIA USA seems to be a little slow updating their site.

Q: Chevrolet Aveo?
Has anyone driven it? Can i get feedbacks? What do you think about it?
I’m looking for cars similar to that, a hatchback.

I live in the Philippines, and hatchbacks available are Honda Jazz (UK, not out in US) and Ford Focus Sport

A: I have a Chevy Aveo and I get approximately 35 miles to the gallon. I drive an hour each day to work and spend no more than $25 per week on gas. I love it for it’s design and efficiency.

I say buy the Chevy Aveo!

Q: 2004 Chevrolet Aveo how to program key less entry remote?
I have a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo LS and I would like to know how to reprogram my key less entry remote.
Being only 17 I don’t have enough money to have it fixed at the shop. And it says nothing on how to fix it in the manual.

A: Take all the remotes down to your Chevrolet dealer’s service department (or any GM service department) and they will program it with a TECH2 programmer.

Q: chevrolet aveo?

A: IT is a cheap car from GM, good on gas

Q: Why does the Pontiac G3 cost more than the Chevrolet Aveo when its the exact same car?
I was considering buying a Chevrolet Aveo as I was looking at one I noticed on the Pontiac lot the same exact car sold as the G3 but it cost a two thousand more dollars than then Aveo when the equipment package was the same.

A: Because it’s a Pontiac. Were it a Buick, you’d pay a couple thousand more than that.

This has been the way of the American auto industry since Alfred P. Sloan, who conceived the GM stepladder with Chevy at the bottom, Cadillac at the top, and everyone else positioned in between.

Q: My tire tread is down to 5/32 on my 2006 Chevrolet Aveo how long can I go before I need to replace the tire?
What are the best places to go for Chevrolet Aveo to get good inexpensive tires?

A: with winter coming on I would replace them now if you want to be safe and check on the internet for tire deals as walmart has good deals, tire rack, and even your chevy dealer.

Q: Toyota Yaris hatchback Vs. Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback which is better?
Which is a better car the Toyota Yaris hatchback or the Chevrolet Aveo hatchback? They are both really cheap but which is the better choice?

A: Hi,

some information to help you make your own choice…

1. The Chevy Aveo is actually made in South Korea by Daewoo. Chevy purchased a controlling interest in Daewoo so they could have access to their small vehicles.

2. The Yaris incorporates many of the advanced features that are present in higher end Toyotas, including:

a. no steering pump or steering belt (no squealing when you turn a corner after it wears), the Yaris uses electric steering which is much more reliable, weighs less, has fewer parts and fewer moving parts
b. individual fuel injectors for each cylinder with computer control over each cylinder independent of the others (if you get some water in the gas, the system can actually slightly advance or retard the spark in that individual cylinder to clear it)
c.

I have to teach class, I’ll finish later.

Q: what rim size can i put on a chevrolet aveo?
I have a chevrolet aveo, and I’m not sure what size rim I can put on it.

So if you have any idea, please help.

A: I read somewhere that some people have been successful with 16 inch rims. I dont know if anything larger would be worth it.

Q: If you have or have had a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
I am thinking about buying a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo? I was wondering what you like about it and what you don’t like about it?

A: I dislike everything about them.

Q: Is Chevrolet Aveo an good car to buy?
I am planning to buy an chevrolet Aveo car, let me know if u have an comments on it..

A: not a good idea..the car is cheap and not very stable….there are many other better cars in this class….if you want a small car and cheap go with Toyota…i would recommend the Toyota yaris….34/40 mpg..the price starts from $10,480 – $13,525
never breaks down and will never lose its value unlike the Aveo….
you could pay a lil more for Toyota Matrix, Toyota Corolla

Q: Chevrolet Cobalt and Chevrolet Aveo Reviews?
I am thinking of buying a new car and I was looking at the Chevrolet Cobalt or the Chevrolet Aveo. I wanted to know what other people think or if they have had any experience with the car. Any reviews will help. Preferably people who have owned one before.

I am looking for a 4 cylinder car, good gas mileage, not too expensive as I am a college student with a new job, and reliable. Is this a good choice?

A: I have an ‘06 Cobalt Coupe,I love it,gets great gas mileage and I haven’t had any problems other than a couple of things that were recalled and of course they were fixed for free. It’s a pretty cool little car,I say go for it! Good luck with whatever you choose.

Q: Which is a better car – Maruti SX4 OR Chevrolet Aveo?
I want to purchase a Petrol Model car within Rs. 8-9 lakh. My choice is between Mruti’s SX4/ SWift DZire and Chevrolet’s Aveo. My daily commuting requriement is about 20km in city and the car will be mostly be driven by my driver. Reliability and running cost are my major concerns.

A: Overall sx4 is a better car as compared to the other two. it was just upgraded with new engine and few visual changes. ehile dzire is a good car but the rear leg room is a prob and the engine is not adequately powered as the sx4. you can also consider buying honda city base model as the quality and reliability is one of the best.

Q: how do you remove a cd player from a Chevrolet Aveo?
2004 Chevrolet Aveo with standard cd player (MP3)

A: if there are a set of two holes on either side of the radio. either go to a car stereo shop and buy the tool required, or use a metal coat hanger. If it doesn’t have the holes, start taking the molding off from around the unit itself, until you uncover the screws.

Q: What do you think about the Chevrolet Aveo?
I am looking for a very inexpensive, safe, fuel efficient car for my 16 year old daughter. How is the Aveo? Does anyone own one? Do you like it?

A: Its small, but would be good for a new driver. I opted to buy the G6 sedan instead. I purchased it for 15,000 new and I love it! It’s been a great car, came with free on-star for one year which I have already had to use (I locked my two year old daughter in the car oops!). It has great safety features. Sorry I couldn’t tell you about the aveo but if you are looking for a little more room check out the G6.

Q: what kind of motor oil does a 2005 chevrolet aveo take?
what kind of motor oil does a 2005 Chevrolet aveo take?

A: Call up your local auto parts store to verify but, it should be like everything else and take 10w40.

Q: What causes a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo to not start?
My sister called me to say that her car will not start after wanting to leave the store. She says that when she trys to crank it, the engine makes a clicking noise. All lights turn on when she puts the key in, But it just not wants to crank over.

A: Low battery voltage. (most common)
She may have left the lights on……
A simple jump start with “jumper cables” should do the trick.

Read up on the 2010 subaru outback @ GoodCarBadCar.net

Q: Is the 2010 Subaru Outback a good car?
I was looking into the 2010 Limited Outback, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other cars. I also want to know your expierence if you have drove or own one. Any other car suggestions are welcome. Even previous owners tell me your expierence with your Subaru.

A: I’ve never personally had an outback, but my next car will be a Forester. My friend had an outback for years. And he absolutely loved it. He was devastated when he had to sell it due to the economy.

Q: Can a 2010 Subaru Outback take 3 child car seats?
My wife and I are expecting twins, and we’re considering buying a new Outback. Does anyone know if we can get 3 child seats into the back seat of the Outback? Thanks you!

A: It is not recommended for you to install a child seat in the center seat. It may lack the lower latch. The design may have changed or the manual may be wrong so check directly with Subaru.

Q: where can I find performance parts for my 2010 subaru outback?
I just bought a new outback yesterday and I am interested in finding perfomance parts. I have checked many sites and most parts are for the other subaru models. I would like add a little extra to the performance. It has the 2.5 H4 engine

A: You won’t find a lot. Rallitek has some catback’s and I’m sure there are some replacement air filters like K&N. There isn’t really a lot of power to be gained from bolt on parts on your car. The factory cold air intake is pretty good to begin with and a cat back might give another 5 horsepower of so. Some springs like these http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/show/422/Sport-Springs-H-R-08-Impreza-WRX-STI?category=74&model=32 and a set of sway bars like these http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/list?category=8&model=32 will really firm up the ride and be money better spent in my opinion. Also a short shifter and bushings like these http://www2.kartboy.com/x4/product.php?productid=16174&cat=262&bestseller=Y would be real nice too. (I realize it says WRX but they use the same one)

Q: Should I trade my 2010 subaru outback sport in for a 2008 subaru wrx?
I just purchased the outback sport(new), however, I am looking for something with a little more power. I figured id get very close appraisal for both cars, so im looking at a pretty even trade. Is there any big issues with the 2008 wrx that I should know about?

A: Yes you should. And no, there are no real big issues with the 2008 WRX. Well besides for the fact that it is a complete different beast then the outback, and that you should be prepared to have the time of your life driving it.

Q: I just bought a 2010 subaru outback. How long can I expect it to last without any problems and repairs?
I drive about 1000 to 1200 miles a month and the only maintenance i get done is oil change and once a month i check tire pressure. I do not ever open the hood to see coolant or oil level.

With such lifestyle, how long can i expect it to last?

A: Im pretty sure you got some warranty on it. If I were you, anything that comes up, I would make them fix it asap. As for how long it’s going to last Is a matter of how you take care of and maintenance it. Also, it’s luck. Some people can treat their cars like babies and still have problems. But for now, you should be fine.

Q: Where can I get a 2010 Subaru Outback Sport body kit?
i noticed that the 2010 sti is a couple inches wider, so i already know that that wont work.
also, ive checked the regular sites, as well as the garage, and no one can seem to find me anything. anything helpful you say is great.
maybe parts just havent come out yet, if you know let me know.

p.s. im looking for a full kit, front/rear bumpers and side skirts.

thanks!

A: Only the bottom of the front bumper is a little different, the rest of the panels are the same as all the other Impreza’s. From 08, they just started painting the bottom of the panels a different color to differentiate them but there is no “kit” to purchase. If you are talking about the OEM lip kit, then the ones for the WRX should fit but you will have to check with the dealer.

Q: How do you like the 2010 Subaru Outback?
If you own one, which model do you own and; how is it’s handling and performance?

If you have driven it in the snow, sleet, rain or off road, how does it perform?

A: Bought a 2010 Legacy 2.5i Premium Christmas Eve, which is the same as the Outback just as a Sedan and not lifted up.

So far it’s been great. No complaints whatsoever. As far as Snow/Sleet/etc? Are you kidding? It’s a Subaru!! The AWD system on these is amazing, they truly go like tanks. We’ve had quite a bit of snow here in WV the past few weeks, that coupled with the hills/mountains are here, we’ve had plenty of chances to test it out .

Q: Are there any after market performance parts for a 2010 four cylinder Subaru Outback?
I literally have own this 2010 Outback for less than 30hrs. Unfortunately in California there is no “cooling off period” so I can’t return it for the six cylinder. Needless to say I’m now realizing this new car is way too powerless for me and since I’m stuck with this, I was wondering if there are any reliable turbo or supercharge kits for this thing?

Thanks!

A: If you wanted a performance car, you should have bought a performance car. Subaru makes some gnarly little AWD pocket rockets. However, now that you’re here, try this: Take it back RIGHT NOW, and tell them you want the more expensive turbocharged four cylinder (better than the six; more HP and more torque). Since they’ll get more money out of you for that, they might swing something.

Be prepared, however, to pay a price. The Outback you’ve bought is now a used car. Hey, if you can find a friend to walk in with you and buy it, knowing the situation, perhaps it won’t cost you too much. And, just so you know, while that Outback isn’t a racer, it’s a great car. My wife has a 2008 and we love it. I have a 1997 I bought new and love it. Oh, my icon? That’s me in my 2005 Porsche 911 Turbo S (444 HP) … just racing in the rain.

Q: What do you think of the 2010 Subaru Impreza Outback sport?
Do you consider it to be a good all around car?

A: I wouldn’t buy one over a standard Impreza hatchback unless you really need the extra bit of ground clearance.

Q: Does anyone know when the 2010 Subaru Outback should be available for sale?

A: In one millllllllllllion years .

Q: Would you rather have a 2010 VW Golf or a 2010 Subaru Impreza outback sport and why?
You forgot the part of the question were i said “and why”

A: Neither…..My choice would be either the ford fusion or if thats price too high for you go with the focus. Much better cars !!!

Q: 2010 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited AWD system vs. 2010 Subaru Forester XT Limited AWD system?
So the Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited uses a AWD system with a 45/55 front-to-rear power split? Can anyone explain both systems in more depth? All I know is that the Subaru Forester XT Limited AWD system is different from the Outback’s system.

Or does anyone have a website explaining both systems in more depth?

A: According to Subaru they all use the symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

http://www.subaru.com/engineering/all-wheel-drive.html

Q: Do the 2010 subaru outback will be avaiable on sedan?

A: I don’t think so. From what I hear, it will be the same as the current model with the Legacy being a sedan and the outback being the wagon form.

Q: 2010 Nissan Xterra or 2010 Subaru Outback?
I really like both of these vehicles but dont know which one to get. Which one do you think is better and why.

A: it depends – do you really need off road capability, or just a bad weather car? If you want/need to go off road, the Xterra is suitable for that since it is a truck, the Outback is not a truck, it’s a car/crossover (you could call it a “soft” roader). If you don’t plan to go off road, the Outback is a little cheaper, will ride/handle better and get better mileage on the street.

Both good vehicles, but have somewhat different roles – what do you really need?

Q: I hear the 2011 subaru outback debuts in July. Would I get a better deal on a 2010 outback in July ?
or would i need to wait until October?

A: when the 2011 cars are in the showroom

Read up on the subaru impreza wrx @ GoodCarBadCar.net

Q: How much monthly would it cost me to lease a 2008 subaru impreza wrx?
Well im highly considering leasing a 2008 subaru impreza wrx for 3 or 4 years. With around 2 thousand down on the car how much do you think I will have to pay monthly lets say if i lease it for 3 years or maybe 4 years.

A: Your best bet is to go to a dealer and ask. If they have lease offerings going on they will tell you the exact amount you have to pay. Leases are tricky because the terms are usually set by the lender. You can’t just go in and say I have this much and only want to pay this much like with a loan.

Q: What are some good cars similar to the mitibushi evo, subaru impreza wrx that are manual 4 doors?
i am looking for a price range of 1-18k for a car similar to the mitibushi lancer evolution or the subaru impreza wrx used. I am looking for 4 door manual cars similar to these. and I was wondering which one is more worth it to get the impreza or the evo lancer?

A: I noticed you picked only all wheel drive cars so, I would suggest the audi a4. mabe an a6 but that ups the $$$ I also like the altima ser only made in 05 and 06 i believe.

Q: How much should it cost for a mechanic to replace the timing belt on a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX?
How much should it cost for a mechanic to replace the timing belt on a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX with 93000 Miles on it?

A: Around $350-$450. About $50-$100 for the part and 3-4 hours labor, max.
I also suggest you change the water pump at the same time. It should add no additional labor and you would only need to pay for the part.

Timing belts are one of the biggest ripoffs if you take it to a dealer. They will charge you up to $1200.

Q: What is the offset for the wheels on a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon?
I own a 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon and I think it’s time for a new set of wheels. I need to know what the offset is so I can buy me a new set. Also, would rims with an offset of 42 mm fit (securely) on my car? Thanks.

A: I believe the offset is 55mm. Check out tire rack to shop for wheels. They will list the offset to give you an idea of what will fit properly. 42mm may be pushing it, I see many at 48 or 50mm.

Q: How good is the Subaru Impreza WRX in the snow?
I think about the WRX or the Honda CR-V, yes i know they are very different but those are what i am ;looking at. How good is the impreza in snow? Subaru’s are all good snow cars, right? Any thoughts?

Any experiences would be great!
Edit: Non- STi…

A: has any one of you that answered ever drivin BOTH vehicles in the snow? i own a 2005 impreza WRX (non-STi 2.0L Turbo ect..) and im currently living in Alaska. I would strongly recomend the WRX. A friend of mine (who is currently deploied) had a CR-V and that thing was not very reliable. it always had problems with the engine, and the heater took forever to work. The Subaru has a great heater, with snow tires on it has perfect traction, feels like normal pavement when your on ice. The CR-V with studs on all 4 has braking issues just because it weighs so much more. NOW one thing bad about the WRX is the anti-lock brakes are gay. im used to pumping the brakes myself to slow down so the anti-locks cause me to throw myself through the front windshield (not literally). Even though the WRX is a little more expencive, in my opinion and personal experiances its worth the little higher price

ALSO ground clearance is not really a problem in the snow. ive drove through about 3 feet of snow in my WRX one time and the only problem i had was i couldnt see. but that was cause i didnt have winter windshield wipers on yet

Q: How much can I bring down the price on a new 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX?
I’m about to buy a new 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX next week and the invoice price is 24,000 and I will be putting 4000 cash. How much do you think I can bring the price down and get it out the door for?

A: WRXs are fairly popular… I would guess you could offer 20,000.00 and settle at 22,000.00 … call the credit union or bank, and ask what the loan value is….the loan value is the most the credit union will give you..
so your maximum that you can pay is the loan value plus 4000.00…

If the loan value is 18,000.00 your first offer should be 18,000.00
4000.00 cash and 14,000.00 financed…
your next offer would be 19, but you cannot exceed 22… because 18+ 4 =22….

Q: Is the Subaru Impreza WRX a good first car?
2003 or 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX in manual a good first car? How will the insuranc be?

A: No.

Insurance will be horrible. I paid north of $800 per year on a slow, pokey Nissan Hardbody pickup. It was eight years old when I got it, was the base-model truck (2.4 liter four-cylinder and manual transmission WITHOUT any expensive chrome bits or other options– not even power steering!) I should also mention this was for minimum liability and a small comprehensive coverage (because you never know when Bambi will dart out in front of you.)

The Impreza has a number of things working against it, for insurance:

1. It’s a “sports car,” in word and in deed.

2. It’s more likely to be driven by young males. Young people, and especially males, are charged higher rates because they’re seen by insurers as being higher risk. I don’t necessarily agree with that assessment, but then, I’m not in the insurance business.

3. It’s a compact car. Both the adjective and the noun matter in that sentence. Compact means less safety, and car means it’s perceived as being “faster” than a truck. In my experience a compact car would have cost me more to insure than a similarly sized pickup (which is why I got the Nissan and now drive a Ford Ranger.)

Additionally, you should be forewarned that these cars tend to bring out the rally racer-wannabe hoon in everyone who drives them. That means your 2003-2004 dream car is more likely to have been abused and punished by heavy-handed, enthusiast-oriented driving. Not to mention these cars have a notorious ability to chew up clutches and other expensive bits in a much shorter time than more pedestrian cars– even other Subarus.

Q: which is a better car for the value subaru impreza wrx or mini cooper clubman?
the subaru impreza wrx with the options i selected it $29,195 and the mini cooper clubman with almost the same options is $27,449.

A: Mini Cooper hands down, not a fan of Subaru at all.

Q: Could a tall man fit into a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX?
A character in my novel is 6′4″, fairly thin, and normally proportioned. Could he fit comfortably into a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX? If not, what comparable 2007 car would he be likely to buy?

A: I am 6′3″ and drive an Impreza and I fit fine. Keep in mind anyone sitting behind me is gonna have cramped leg room because my seat is all the way back, but it is a fine fit for a tall driver.

Q: what cars are there that are very similar to Subaru impreza wrx?
i am 16 and want a car that used and cheap with a turbo engine so that i can install a blow off valve because the blow off valve is music to my ears… any ways i was wondering what other cars are out there that are similar to the subaru impreza wrx with a turbo engine.

A: Theirs quite a few cars that are similar to the wrx. You got the evo of course, the cobalt ss, srt 4, Mazda speed 3, the older eclipse gst and gsx, and the vw gti 1.8t and r32. I know I’m probably forgetting some, but the only ones out of the ones I listed that are awd would be the eclipse gsx, the r32, and the evo, with the evo being the most comparible, but more comparible to the sti. The eclipse’s, srt 4, or maybe even the gti 1.8t would probably be the ones most in your price range taking your age into consideration, but who knows you could be rich lol. Anyway, good luck with your decision

Q: Is it worth buying a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan with 124K miles on it?
I am looking to buy a used 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. I have found one that is reasonably priced within the Kelly Blue Book suggestion, but it has 124K miles on it. Is it worth buying?

A: ^ uh, the WRX is a turbo, so don’t know what that persons talking about,

your question is hard to answer not knowing the price, and KBB can vary on location so say it cost 8k where you live, it could cost 7k where i live or the other way around

first thing first is get it checked out by a mechanic, preferably one who knows subarus well, all major cities have shops like these, don’t just go to some corner maintenance shop, go to one who knows these cars, it has a boxer engine and is turbo’d and has an intercooler, most shops don’t see these too often, not to say they arent good, but best to find specialists, to find a good local tuner who can help you, go to NASIOC.com, go to forums, then scroll down to NASIOC CHAPTERS and go to the one in your area, they will know a shop to go to and some might even know the car, most places will fully check the car for free or a minimal fee

124k is a bit, but depending on how its been driven, it might be fine, but price and condition of the car are the two MAIN factors, good luck

Q: would a normal subaru impreza sound the same as a subaru impreza wrx?
i am wondering because i was on the magnaflow website listening to the sound previews of the exhaust systems for subaru impreza wrx models, but there is no sound preview for a normal impreza. so i am wondering if a normal impreza would sound the same as a wrx?

A: yes, the unequal length headers give the rumble.

Q: Should I sell a 2000 Accord and buy a Subaru Impreza WRX?
So I’ve been looking for a new car and thinking of selling my new car since graduating and a guy who works at a store next to me is selling his used 2007 Subaru impreza wrx. Has about about 20,000 miles on it and has a customized interior. He said the only problem was just the transmission, I forgot what exactly, but considering how these things are going for around 30,000, is this a good idea to buy? How much can the transmission take out of my wallet?

A: Quote -
>He said the only problem was just the transmission,
– Unquote

Are you kidding me ? have you ANY Idea how much does it take to fix that ? Why don’t you take that car to a Reputed Mechanic of your own (Not his) and ask him how much it will cost to fix ? Is he willing to deduct that cost from the Sale price ? If not you decline.

Seriously, why on earth you want to sell a nice car like the accord for the Impreza ? Even if you do want to, make sure he does not Overprice you. Do your homework and find out Edmunds.com TMV price for that car.

Q: do i need to remove the front axels to change a clutch on a subaru impreza wrx sti?
its a 2004 subaru impreza wrx sti.

A: No you don’t need to pull the axles to replace the clutch if you are pulling the engine to do it, but as a mechanic I can tell you it’s easier to pull the transmission ,in that case yes you need to remove the axles.

Q: What car is faster? the B6 2005 Audi S4 or the 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI?
If the B6 2005 Audi S4 isnt faster, then what do you have to do to make it faster.(what kind of performance parts do you have to put on the Audi S4 to make it faster the the 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI?

A: That is such a loaded question. Define “faster”. They have a similar 0-60 time (5.XX) and no, you can not tell the difference between a 5.3 second 0-60 and a 5.1second 0-60 time. The Audi did an 8:29 around the Nurburgring and the STI did it in 8:24. Again, negligible difference. On the street, the Audi is going to feel like a heavy, powerful, german car. The STI will feel lighter and more cheaply built. Just an opinion, but if you’re looking to mod, get the STI, if you want a nice, fast car to be proud of (or you’re over 25) get the Audi. Just my $0.02.

Read up on the GS460 @ GoodCarBadCar.net

Q: Yes, I recently purchased a 08 Lexus GS460 and was wondering if Brembo brakes would fit on them. Thank you?
The stock brakes are pretty good, but I just wanted to upgrade them. If possible can you let me know which size rotors to use for the front and back. Also if Brembo doesn’t work can you give me another brake model that would be suitable. Money is not an issue, so even if I have to spend 5k-8k, it’s no problem. Thank you very much and have a blessed day.

A: sure they make brakes part for any type of car shouldnt have any problem upgrading as much as you want to spend just a phone cal a way but heres the site

Q: Hi, I am looking to increase horsepower on my 08 Lexus GS460?
I am only familiar with K&N air filters. Are there any other modifications I can use? For example, is it possible to purchase a supercharger or turbocharger? Money is not an issue, I’ll even pay up to 10k to upgrade the engine. So if anyone has any ideas can you please let me know. Thank you so much and have a blessed day.

A: If money is not an object and you live in SoCal area, there are tuners out there that can supe up your engine to output easily 500hp or more. Do a search online and you’ll find them.

Q: Has anybody purchased the 08 Lexus GS460. Is it worth the 60K+?

A: I haven’t bought one, but I’ve driven one. Yes, they’re absolutely worth $60k. The craftsmanship is outstanding. The power that car has in incredible and the looks you get on the street are flattering.

Q: Best Tires for GS460.?
I have a brand new GS460 and the Yokohama Advan A10 are CRAP. The car is in burnout mode the entire first gear and half of second.. Dear lord… Never had this issue with any of my other RWD 300 hp+ cars… Others notice that with these tires??

My options are:
Bridgestone Potenza
Michelin Pilot
Nitto Invo

A: Get the michelin pilots, the gs460s in the midwest come with the bridgestones and wear out very quickly. We recommend to all our customers to switch to michelins when they are in need of tire replacements. You will be happy with the quite michelins.

Q: Lexus GS460 or Infiniti M45?
Why?

A: comparos i’ve read say the m45 is more enthusiast oriented, with the electronic nannies much less intrusive. A little faster . but those testers are all about what a car does at 9/10ths and up. and the M won out.

I think the lexus (and GS six cyl.)is way better looking. i’d never drive it at 9/10ths. looks are always subjective. which car do you think looks better?

Which car makes you say. oooh i get it… Wasn’t the M made to compete against the benchmark GS?

If i remember, the GS is maybe 5k (or more) more than similar equipped M. Personally i’d spend any extra for what i thought was sex on wheels, as opposed to looks good when cleaned up, or sports blue/white propeller on hood.

You may not get to marry a supermodel, but you can sure as shi* park one in your garage……..

Q: Hi, I would like to upgrade my suspension on my 08 Lexus GS460. I am looking for the best product I can find.?
The ride is o.k. now, but I want to know if there is any set-up that I could have install to give me the LEAST body roll in corners..etc. I don’t really care if my ride is choppy, I just want the stiffest package out there. I will mainly do street driving. The cost is no problem. I know it’s a car that most would say isn’t for stiff suspension, but I want to feel like I’m inside of a race car, as far as when I’m approaching corners or coming out of them. Can you please let me know what products are the best. Thank you so much and have a blessed day.

A: To reduce body roll you need to look at higher rate Stabilizer Bars (sometimes called anti-sway or anti-roll bars). Whether anyone makes them for this particular vehicle is another question. If people are looking for a car that feels like a race car the GS460 is normally not even on their list. I would have to say you chose badly. At any rate, time for a Google search.

Stiffer Stabilizer Bars reduce body roll which in turn reduces camber change in the suspension when cornering as well as weight transfer. On a car like yours you can’t possibly use the extra performance in driving on public roads at sane speeds. There will be some impact on ride quality – something people do by Lexi for – and the car may be more susceptible to oversteer (typical with AM stabilizer bars) so one must be careful what one wishes for.

Q: hard to choose different lexus models?
which is better and prefer lexus model IS250,GS350,GS460,IS350

A: The GS460 is best of these models. The IS models are more sportier sedans and the GS are more luxury sedans. So basically it depends on what you looking for!

Read up on the ford escape @ GoodCarBadCar.net

Q: Ford escape????
i have a 2001 Ford Escape V6 3.0L and it has no Radiator cap????? i looked and then i put antifreeze in the bottle. Why does it have no cap????

A: Most cars that don’t have a radiator cap have a pressurized cap on the overflow tank instead. Many foreign cars have done this for years. One advantage is that you have less evaporation of the coolant.

Just make sure the overflow tank is filled up to the “cold” line when the engine is cold, and don’t open it when the engine is hot. If you suspect a problem, they can be pressure-checked just like a radiator cap, with the proper adapter.

Q: Ford Escape?
My current lease on my car is going to be up next year, and I was wondering if any of you have driven the Ford Escape, or own it? Do you enjoy driving it? I’ll probably buy it this time around now that i’m making more money. So looking for honest opinions on the car….I went to look at them the other weekend and thought they were cute. Thanks!

A: i work on them pretty regularly as long as you keep up on the maintenance they are fairly reliable vehicles 4 wheel drives have less tire wear issues than 2wd ones but other than that they are a good vehicle

Q: ford escape?
how much is the 2008 ford hybrid escape per month? if you lease it

A: This would depend on a lot of things. Credit score, the state you live in, dealer promotions, and the price and options you buy. I would call your local dealer. Good luck.

Q: 2002 Ford Escape hesitates to start every great once in a while, any guesses what it might be?
Every great once in a while — like once every couple of months or so, my ‘02 Ford Escape doesn’t want to turn over. When it happens I have to hold the key on and let it crank for 30 seconds or so and then it will turn over. One of my guesses is, it might be doing this after sitting in direct sun for several hours, but I’m not sure.

Is there anything that Escape’s are notorious for, that might be causing this? Any speculations what it might be?

I know I should take it to a garage — but since it happens so sporadically I forget about it — and more than likely the garage won’t be able to duplicate the problem.

A: Try this… Turn the key to the “ON” position….wait 30 seconds…then fire it up….
Fuel injection is a high fuel pressure system.
Somehow after the vehicle sits a while the fuel system will lose pressure causing the motor to crank longer to build up the necessary pressure to deliver adequate fuel to the motor.
Turning on the key also turns on the electric fuel pump in your gas tank creating the necessary pressure. It should fire up much quicker! Try it…… Also getting the fuel filter changed wouldn’t hurt anything either! Good Luck!

Q: Why my 2001 Ford escape egr failure and valve blew up on the side?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape. For some reason while driving at high speed, the Side of my EGR Valve is blown out. Before that I had problems with misfire, I replaced two spark plug solenoids and the six plenum gaskets. After that the car was running weaken (without power). I replace the EGR valve, but the problems continue. I found that the tube going from the exhaust manifold to the EGR was extremely hot. What is happening?

A: you are running rich,,,does your cat, glow in the dark,,

EGR has no relation on misfire unless the sensor is shorted or grounded

misfire will cause you cat to heat up abnormally
and running rich too,

your check engine light shoul be on by now,,have it scan

Q: Why would a 2009 Ford Escape make a dog bark sound when accelerating after a stop?
I JUST bought a 2009 Ford Escape and notice that everytime I accelerate after a stoplight or stop sign, my engine makes 1 or 2 quick dog bark sounds. Anybody know what that could mean?
No, I’m not chirping the tires. Its definitely in the engine.

A: u sure ur not “chirping” the tires???

Q: How do i install speakers in a 2003 ford escape?
I got new speakers for my 03 ford escape, along with the adapter harness to install them easily. Now my question is, how do i get the door panel off to install them? Do i need any tools?

A: go and take it to audio shop and they will do it for u

Q: What is the song used in the 2009 ford escape commercisal?
The commercial shows factory workers working on a ford escape, then some of them talk about their job. Also, it was used in the xplay season premiere commercial, and the E3 2008 commercials on the G4 commercial. I’ve been looking for theis sing for a while now, and I would really like to know what it is called.

A: If i recollect, it was a Gay supportive song. I think it was either California’s state anthem or Michael Jackson’s hit song. Either way, all three of them have gay in common.

Q: Would a Ford Escape be able to hold the box springs to a double bed?
I need to transport a double bed and the only vehicle I have available on short notice is a Ford Escape. Would it be big enough? Multiple trips are an option as long as I can get the box spring in (since it would be the largest and most inflexible piece.) What do you guys think?

A: it might fit inside at and angle but probably not but this is an easy thing to haul regardless because you can put it on the roof just put a thick blanket on top of the car first if you don’t have a roof rack so you don’t scratch the paint and buy some tie downs at local hardware store or walmart for around 10 bucks put the box spring of there tie it down and your off just make sure you secure side to side and front to back.

Q: How much would these 2009 Ford Escape XLS accessories be?
I have a 2009 ford escape xls and I want to get sync, running boards, tinted windows, fog light, roof rails. Which one would be the cheapest? Including labor, and I’m doing it at at a ford dealer.

A: Your local ford dealer should be able to answer your questions and then you can decide what you want to get done first.

Q: What do the airbags of a 2005 Ford Escape look like when deployed?
My 2005 Ford Escape was in an accident.
It doesn’t look like the air bag properly deployed.
The side curtains look fine, its the drivers airbag from the seat that I question.
It was a driver side impact, to just in front of the driver.

A: Questions like this are asked and answered all the time here. There are specific items that are required replacement items when a deployment occurs or when an airbag light comes on…and there are some items that are “check only”. Check out this website for the EXACT answers to your questions including fault code charts. This site tells you exactly what needs to be replaced, where they all are and how to access them (seat belts & all) on over 3500 cars. It’s a pay site, but it’s little money well spent to get the correct answers and to see exactly what you’re after…it uses pictures, not text, so you can see what you’re looking for.
http://www.airbagsolutions.com
Good Luck…it’s not too bad of a job & if your state allows it, used parts or parts from ebay should be ok

Q: Is there a way to turn off daytime running lights for ford escape?
I have a 2006 Ford Escape XLT and I was wondering if there is a way to make it where the daytime running lamps aren’t always on. I thought Daytime Running Lights (DRL) were supposed to turn off if it was sunny outside, but I guess I was wrong.

A: I think that in your fuse box, if you follow the key you can take out the fuse for the running lights. But I am not 100% positive.

Q: Any opinons on the Ford Escape hybrid from people who drive it?
I really want to buy the Ford Escape Hybrid in the fall when I finally give up on my gas-guzzling Jeep. I was just looking for real opinions from people who drive it. Is it what you expected? What could be better? Thanks!

A: I don’t own one, but my in-laws do and they were just in town with it so my husband and I got a chance to spend a lot of time in it. They’ve had it about a year now and like it a lot. Their miles per gallon is about the same as I get in my small sedan (there’s a graph you can display on the console that tells you what mpg you’re getting as you go; I thought that was interesting to see). One thing they mentioned on this trip was when they got stuck in traffic on the freeway they didn’t use any gas idling, since it could run off the battery–something I didn’t think about.

Q: How much should it cost to replace the starter on a Ford Escape?
I have a 2001 ford escape XLT 4X4 with a broken starter. How much should I pay for this repair?

A: 216.65 for factory part for 4 cyl model. +110.00 labor
198.80 for factory part for 6 cyl model. +110.00 labor

Q: How many illegals can you fit into a ford escape?
I have a ford escape, [2008 model] And I need some extra money so I’m going to smuggle some Mexicans into California. How many approximatley do you think you can fit into my SUV. It will only be me in the car, all other seats and space will be free.

Another thing – If you live in California, how much does each Mexican pay?

A: I seen a video that had 27 in a Ford Aerostar. So I say 20 can pack good. Get at least 200 piece
